Pentatonic Legato Workout - E Minor - 100 bpm
---------------------------------------------
The study starts for E minor pentatonic box I played with open strings ascending with hammer on then slide up to the next pentatonic box, and descending it with pull-off, once reached the sixth string slides up again to the next pentatonic box, and so on in a cyclic motion.
Theory Focus
------------
Legato is an Italian word that means, "smooth" sounding and is graphically notated on staff and tab with an arc between notes that have to be played legato, or all over the passage that need to be played legato.
Techniques Focus
----------------
Legato techniques is accomplished by two main articulation:
Hammer-on: Literally hammer with left hand fingers on strings to produce sound, and make them vibrate, instead of use right hand.
Pull-off: Pull down strings with a toward the floor movement to produce sound, and make them vibrate, instead of use right hand.
Pro Tips
--------
When you use picking in combination with legato techniques, try to balance the volume of the picked notes with the one of the hammered or pulled one, to get a good legato smooth sound.
Keep Practicing!
