Hello folks!
In this lesson I'll teach you some tricks and tips of the modes of the melodic minor scale.
Nowadays, this scale is primarely used in jazz/fusion, but some excerpts of it can be found in other styles as well, such
as prog rock, country, funk, samba etc.
The melodic minor scale can be noted as:
R 2 b3 4 5 6 7
I like to face it as a dorian mode with the natural 7th in the place of the b7.
The modes are as follows:
1) Melodic Minor scale by itself - R 2 b3 4 5 6 7
2) Dorian(b9) or Phrygian 6 (also known as Phrygian #6) - R b2 b3 4 5 6 b7
3) Lydian(#5) - R 2 3 #4 #5 6 7
4) Mixolydian(#4) - R 2 3 #4 5 6 b7
5) Mixolydian(b6) - R 2 3 4 5 b6 b7
6) Locrian 9 (also known as Locrian #9) - R 2 b3 4 b5 b6 b7
7) Altered scale - R b2 b3 b4 b5 b6 b7

The solo is about 90% played with the melodic minor scale, so it's an excelent way to learn more about the scale and get used to its sounds!
Hope you like it!
