  • Hi GMC!

This lesson will cover improvisation/soloing over a Salsa backing track.
Salsa is a latin music, afro percussion-based style, pretty common among jazz musicians too (Dizzy Gillespie, Paquito D'Rivera etc).

To improvise over a backing track like this, you'll need to use some syncopated phrases and not overplay (shred, for say).
Rhythm, intelligent use of repetitions and spaces (breathing) are a lot more important here.

The scales and arpeggios are much the same as used in jazz - so, no surprises.
I'll list the note choices of each session so that you get a lot more comfortable.

I hope you enjoy my solo and get good personal ideas out of it!
