It is so much fun when you finally 90 to 100 % of all pinch harmonics..but it takes time especially for the lower strings...
OMG, artificial harmonics in my house :D Thanks mate
Incredible! For me this is the most useful lesson I've yet found. I've had the artificial harmonic technique down pat for some years now, but I could never figure out why they were so inconsistent. I had no idea that there were specific places to pick them. Hats off to you Pavel!!!
Very good lesson... Like everyone else i think the hardest it getting that sreaming sound from the low e string. Thx for the thumb tip btw its very usefull. And it sound awesome :-)
Wow, I -love- the explaination! just what I needed! =D! awesome
Hey Pavel!!!!thanks,thanks,thanks!!!!very good
finally! I can finally play harmonics!
Thanks:)
*Loves the part with the natural harmonics*
Heh... I came across this thumb technique of artificiat harmonic myself just by chance about 6 month ago, but I never even thought of producing different than octave harmics! Thanks, the lesson was really helpful!!
Btw you can do the same thing with the index fingen on the upstrokes
WOW.... amazingly helpful..
*cries*
I've met my match XD
My problem, probably like everybody else who is having trouble, is right hand movement
I was told by my old instructor today to just count 12 frets up from the note you're fingering and lightly touch the string there
just cant seem to get my thumb to do that XD
You're welcome! Really - don't get crazy if it doesn't work each time! It's natural! You'll get it with time!
Thanks, it's encouraging It helps if my plectrum only sticks out for about 2-3 mm. Great sound... thanks!
It's indescribable by text - at least for me! 1 out of 10 is very good for start! I had same thing - pretty hard at the beginning but later you get each one of it!
Any additional info on how to get that right hand movement exactly right? I try the turn with pick to thumb, but still only 1 in 10. I know I need to practice, but if anyone has a few ideas on how to master that movement... very welcome (especially after seeing Steve Morse again at the Deep Purple show in Montreux.. gotta master it sooner rather than later
once again i thanks for this man, i never new how to do it, now ive mastered all the 7th, 5th, 9th, 17th, and 3rd artificial harmonic! wow thanks man
thanks for the great explanation... Positions on the strings are clear, now all I need to work on is the right movement with my right hand to actually produce the AH. Get it right about 1 in every 10 times... Pathetic, I know, but have always played bass guitar
Well i am glad i made a good explanation out of it!
wow ... awesome ... 5 minutes ago I didn't even know, that there exists a technique like this ... i thought i'd be the first who "invented" it when my arm's got to heavy after practising 5 hours :-P
Hell, it works! Thank you ...
GREAT lesson man! Pavel is the A boss dog for sure
Nicely done Pavel.
This is really cool, although I'm still having trouble hitting the G note harmonic on the E string...But the thing I really like about this riff is how cool it sounds after playing the whole thing and then starting it over again. It all flows together so nicely.
I don't play a clear 2-octave harmonic. I think it's 3rd or 5th harmonic. For those low frets 2-octave harmonics don't sound like a scream.
So count up 2 octaves and a 3rd or a 5th.
also, Im having a lot of trouble getting that A.H. on the 3rd fret of the E string. It sounds nothing like the way your playing it.
hey pavel, Im doing the A.H. correctly, but my A.H. does sound as high pitch as yours. Im using distortion and the bridge pickup.
sorted it pavel opened it in another browser, cheers, great lesson once again
damn you pavel and your long finger stretch chords!
It works fine! It must be your browser making bugs.
cant get video one anyone else having the same problem?
JUST WHAT IVE ALWAYS WANTED MY VERY OWN VIDEO OF PAVEL PLAYING HARMONICS>> thanks pavel best christmas present ever..... in mid july... yer a bit early.. or late
Great lesson! I really love your explanation of artaficial harmonics!
Atta boy, I've been playing for like 10 years and I just found out where to hit the AH's last week....but this tells me I'm not crazy, and it was because of where I was hitting them haha
do you we have to play upside down at the parts you do? lol
Just simple thanx. To my surprise it dose work.
I don't know what about you, but for me it's grate.
Great lesson.I needed an explanation of this.
Oh if your dog loves it than it MUST BE GOOD!
I'm glad you guys liked it!
Thanks for a great lesson Pavel. I love it, and so does my dog
Great lesson. That's the first time I've seen the double octave "secret" explained in an artificial harmonics lesson.
great lessson! just what i needed! nobody ever showed me the exact places for an AH. awesome, and i loved your laugh at the end of vid 2! rofl =D
@jammer91: usually when i play those really low frets i play a 5th harmonic! but if you want the exact F on 1st fret low E string than you have to pick very close to fretboard but it is still over the neck humbucker but it won't sound like an actual artificial harmonic so better play the 5th harmonic!
@ezravdb: you don't need that much of overdrive! You can even play artificial harmonics on clean sound but you will still hear them!
@Rockwouldbe: thanks a lot m8!
hehe you forgot to mention you need a helllotta overdrive
video 7 reminds me of Van Halen
Lol pause video 2 at 0:00 xD
anyway great lesson, I was never really aware of whcih artifial note I was playing
Great Tune man, i wish i had this lesson when i started learning these.
Pavel
you are the lead teacher here. I tole you before you are not only an amzing guitar player. You are a Good teacher.
Nice Pavel - great exercise very well played. Nice guitar you have too
Pavel if we use your metohod to find the spot where to pick then how do we use it to find a spot for the first fret on high en string?
Finally, youv know ive been dying for this lesson Pavel....
Thanks a lot.
Yeah M8! That riff is cool
Well done! Cheers,
Kai
Nice Pavel, great sound in that JEM.. Im so jealous..
Ah, tx, I have it now:) Great lesson:)
Haha cant stop doing this =D great lesson
@Jakub Luptovec: you just play it on 27th fret. There is no point on hitting it on 15th fret. That's why i count 2 octaves to find a place ABOVE PICKUPS.
Thanks for comments!
Good one Pavel,great riff too!!
I don't know, if I Do get those artififticial harmonics right... You mean, that from each fretted note, there are two places (on that string), where can be the AH done k? and these places, where right hand should strike, are always 12 frets higher?
for example from 3rd fret AH should be 15th and 27th frets..
This is a great lesson.
Great lesson as always Thanks Pavel
YAY JUST WHAT I WANTED =DDDDDDDD THX!!!!
Very nice pavel. This is going to be awesome to learn. I like the rythem, and how you used the natural harmonics 2 !!
