Not quite. The vibrato you use here, and the tone, aren't really Greg Howe to me...But the licks themselves are very Greg Howe-ish
Good topic to discuss! Thanks for the question, Orion333.
Kristofer Dahl mentioned some important points about compression and the amp. I would complement with the amp eq:
Cut high and attenuate middle frequencies. The bass frequencies you can work in 60%, it depends on the amp.
Distortion: I do not use the amp distortion always in hi-gain. Sometimes it's cool, in some riffs, but others are not, for exemple in my case while playing hybrid picking.. I don´t like, sounds crapy, and without rhythmic definition. If you want to add more gain to the amp, try some overdrive pedals (Ts9, Ds-1, BB Preamp)
You will need to add some delay effect and reverb to get more dimension.
This tone I got using Guitar Rig5 and in resume, I adjust all the virtual stuffs same as I adjust my amp and pedals. This tone is inspired in Howe´s tone, I like that!
To get close to Howe's tone I would start with a loud/compressed signal - then going into and amp that can give me picking definition even on higher gain settings. I would then tweak EQ etc to suit my liking and guitar.
I am looking forward to knowing about Dalltons sound strategy here.
How can I get that kind of tone?
*so much lol
Woww another killer player here! :-) Thank you so Gabriel!
Thanks Kristofer !!! I really appreciate your feedbacks and also your playing!
Great job Dallton!
Yeah!! Super groovy lines Dallton!
