This is an excerpt from a tune of mine. It starts out with a rocker riff in sixteenth notes and then goes into a solo section with a band arrangement at the end. It´s basically a modal funk-rock sequence following the steps of Greg Howe and Brett Garsed.
Pay close attention to the chord changes and the combination of techniques I use in this example. When playing fusion one of the most important things is to create different environments, that´s how the pharses can truly shine out.
Techniques:
Legato
Hybrid Picking
String Skipping
Tapping
Bends
Well...I hope you enjoyed it, practice it slowly and try to incoporate these elements to your vocabvulary. It can help you explore new melodic fields.
Feel free to ask me any question,
See you next time!
